Blacksheep Mountain Bike Skills Clinics

 

The Blacksheep MTB Club is hosting two mountain bike skills clinic series. Each series will have 3 sessions that will feature skills development to allow riders to have confidence on any trail they follow. The first series will be directed to beginner or novice riders. The second series will be directed to intermediate riders. Each age group has been divided into distinct timeslots. Each series has distinct sessions that will build upon another to enrich the learning experience.

Course logistics as follows:

Intro to MTB Skills:
Sunday July 11, July 18, and July 25
Who it’s for: Any beginner rider who is wanting to transition from pavement to trail, and any beginner mountain biker wanting to learn skills to build confidence on green and blue level trails.
Time: 11am to 1pm – Children 7 to 9 years old

Intermediate MTB Skills:
Sunday August 8, August 15, and August 22
Who it’s for: Any intermediate rider who is riding blue level trails and wants to take their skills to the next level. This is for the rider that wants to gain confidence to ride faster on blues and learn skills to ride black level trails.
Time:
11am to 1pm – Youth 12-14 years old

Prices:
You can either register for 2 of the 3 days at $60 or all three days for $75.

COVID-19 Considerations:
Due to current government regulations, all clinics will be capped at 8 participants to allow for two coaches at each clinic. All participants will be provided a passive COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to the start of every session. If any participant is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, they are asked to stay home and follow TBDHU recommendations.

Who’s running it?
Head Coach Katherine Morency will be designing and instructing each session along with vetted local mountain bikers. Her qualifications are as follows:

  • Cycling Canada – Let’s Ride Community Initiation. Certified June 2021.
  • Cycling Canada – Ready to Race! Introduction to Competition. In Training June 2021.
  • Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association – Level 1. Certified July 2021 (pending).
  • 8 years of experience riding and racing mountain bike trails of various difficulty across Canada and Minnesota.
