And it all gets underway on Wed. July 7!
All the details will be posted to the website: https://www.blacksheepmtb.com/raceseries/
Here are the 8 things you need to know right now:
1. See the updated schedule below. That’s right! 7 races, PLUS a brand new event (8-Hour Relay) and the 40 Miner XC Marathon. And a new race format – XCC Short Track. WOOHOO!
2. REGISTRATION FOR XC#1 is live:
Lambateur only here:
3. Links to course maps and descriptions are on the Webscorer registration page. Remember, you need to use the email address you registered with so the system can verify that you are a member.
4. If you purchased a “General” membership because you weren’t sure what was going to happen this year, we’ve created an “upgrade” option for you to only pay the difference to cover your Racing membership. Here is the link:
5. There is no longer a Mini-Lamb Category. All participants in Lambateur should be on a pedal bike and be capable of riding trails like Conveyor Belt and Fools Gold. Lambateur races will start off pretty simple, but progress throughout the season to be longer and add a few technical elements. We want kids to have fun, positive experiences. On average, we suggest 6 yrs old as an entry age but obviously there are little rippers out there younger than that which could handle it. Races will generally be 15-25 minutes for the leaders and we want to avoid some kids being out there for double that. If you are unsure, we will always post the courses, so the best way to know is to try to ride them with your kid and see how it goes.
6. We need volunteers! With our club growing so fast, and such an interest in participating in our events, we are expecting big numbers. In order to do this safely, we need people to step up to help with hosting these events. Specifically, we need people to be our on course, marshalling at certain sections to ensure that people entering the course know that there is a race in progress. Please email racing@blacksheepmtb.com if you can help. New this year is a special draw prize at every race specifically for volunteers at that event!
7. Even though we are permitted to race in Phase 2, we are still under COVID regulations. We have provided the info you need as part of the webscorer registration. We will be spacing riders out in a 3-metre grid at the start. You must also WEAR A MASK to the registration table when you are checking in.
8. SPREAD THE WORD! We are so excited to be able to host a compressed, but FULL season of racing. Share this post, comment on it, like it, etc. And tell your friends to join the club and come on out. Racing is not scary or intimidating. Its just going fast on your bike! That’s what we all love to do, and racing is just about being part of a friendly, welcoming community of people that love it too!
SEE YOU IN A WEEK!!!!!
