New this year for Blacksheep Club members will be a Tin Can Challenge! A Tin Can Challenge? What the heck is that? If you’ve ever skied at Kamview Nordic Centre you should know.
The theme of this year’s Tin Can Challenge is a Word Jumble. The Tin Can Challenge consists of finding all the tin cans hidden throughout the trail network in order to un-jumble the secret phrase. Everyone who finds all the cans AND correctly un-jumbles the phrase will be entered to win awesome prizes!
Red tin cans will be hidden throughout the trail network. The tin cans can be hidden on any trail within the attached trail map. Each tin can will be numbered. At each tin can there will be a single alphanumeric character (A-Z or 0-9). Make sure to record the tin can number and the associated character so that you can keep track of the cans and characters you’ve found (taking pictures make this easy). When you’ve hunted down all of the tin cans, you will be able to un-jumble the secret phrase!
Your playing card will have the tin can numbers on the front and a space for the phrase on the back (as well as your name and phone number). To ensure you’ve found every tin can (and haven’t cheated), each numbered space on the card will have to be cut into with the patterned scissors attached to that tin can. If all of the numbers aren’t cut, or the cut pattern does not match that number, the playing card will not be entered into the prize draw.
Playing cards can be purchased for $5. You can buy only one card at a time. If you complete the challenge, you can buy another card to go find the cans again. Each card with the correct phrase (and no cheating) will be entered into the prize draw.
There will be three prize draws, including one grand prize. However, the more cards that are sold, the more prizes we will be able to give out.
The challenge will be open from June 1st to October 5 (deadline extended until Oct 5th). Playing cards can be purchased at any Blacksheep event or at 3Ride, Fresh Air, or Rollin Thunder starting June 1st. Purchases made at any of the bike shops are cash only. The playing cards can be returned at any Blacksheep event or any of the three bike shops.
We have to thank Kamview Nordic Centre for this event since we received their blessing to copy what they do for their trails in the winter time. Plus they’ve provided prizes! Make sure to get out there and ski next winter.
The cans are located throughout the trails shown in the map at the bottom of the page. Happy searching!
August 7th Update:
Unfortunately some of the cans have been sabotaged. As a result we are giving the letters for three of the cans away as freebies.
Can #1 – T Can #3 – I Can #20 – E
Can #2 is missing the letter only so if you find the can and use the scissors message us and we will let you know what the letter is!
There’s still a lot of time to go hunting, so here’s a few hints to help with your search:
