BLACKSHEEP JUNE VIRTUAL TRIPLE CHALLENGE
As provincial COVID regulations still do not permit our club to host regular races, we have created a fun new challenge to replace XC#2 and #3 that will be missed in June.
The contest runs from today until June 30 and it consists of 3 challenges: the DISTANCE Challenge, SPEED Challenge, and TECHNICAL Challenge.
Each challenge has 4 levels, created for each of our usual race categories (Lambateur/Mini-Lamb, Sport, Advanced, Elite). Complete what you can, earn your badges on TrailForks, and then submit your accomplishments online through our usual method on Webscorer.com.
HOW IT WORKS:
- You must be a Blacksheep “General” or “Race” member in order to participate. Remember, we have extended early bird pricing for the entire year. As well, if you purchase a General membership, you can upgrade to a Race membership once the race series resumes by simply paying the difference.
- All of the details for each challenge are posted at the end of this post with links.
- We recommend using TrailForks to log your rides. Download the free app onto your phone. When you start your ride, just hit the yellow arrow at the top-centre of the screen and stop it when your done (see pic below). We have created “ROUTES” in TrailForks for each of these challenges. And when you complete the challenge you will receive a TrailForks “BADGE”. There are lots of other cool badges to work towards as well. If you use Strava, you can also link it to your TrailForks account.
- It is not mandatory to use the app (especially Lambateur) in order to complete these challenges and be entred into the draw, but we would love if you did!
- You only get credit for the highest level of achievement. For example, if you are an Advanced rider, and you complete the 20km distance challenge, you will likely be awarded the Lambatuer and Sport badges on TrailForks because you will have automatically also ridden 5 and 10km. But for the Blacksheep Triple Challenge, you will be awarded the Advanced 20k challenge only.
- For the SPEED Challenge
- We are using our traditional Time-Trial course. It is 3.71km. The start and finish are indicated on the route map. You must time yourself (using an app or your own device). When you indicate that you completed the Speed Challenge on Webscorer, you will be asked to enter your time.
- For the DISTANCE Challenge
- We have created a suggested route, and encourage you to use it. For Sport, Advanced, and Elite it is the course we would have used for the Spring Classic race on June 6, and for the Lambs it is Conveyor Belt. However, the criteria to complete the challenge is only to ride the minimum distance in a single ride in the Trowbridge Forest trail system. The Levels are Elite = 30km; Advanced = 20km; Sport = 10km, Lambateur/MiniLamb = 2.5km.
- For the TECHNICAL CHALLENGE
- There are generally 2 tough sections of trail to ride to complete the Challenge. Check the routes below for your category.
- For Elite, you must complete both of the sections backwards.
Once you have completed all of the categories you have elected to ride (by no later than June 30th), register for the event on Webscorer.com. Only do this AFTER you have completed everything you intend to do because you cannot edit your results on Webscorer – so DO NOT register and submit after each challenge you complete. It is important that you use the same email address that was used when you registered for the club, as this is how we verify that you are a member.

- For each challenge you complete, you get your name in a draw for one of 3 amazing prize packs worth over $125 each!
- Bonus draw tickets: If you complete all 3 challenges by the end of June you will receive an additional ticket. The TOP 5 in each category in the Speed Challenge will also receive an extra ticket.
